Handmade Nation

I am a bit behind the tide I am sure, but I just wanted to express my admiration and pride for Cortney Heimerl and Faythe Levine and the work they did on their Handmade Nation book and film project. They have been truly busting their asses and deserve respect and attention for what they have accomplished.

I missed the book release on Saturday due to work, but they were sweet enough to bring me a copy (that night no less). I have yet to digest the thing, but from what I see, there is no question why they are on the 3rd pressing and selling out.

He saw them often
Coyotes at night
Going on a food run
Or something more

If he didn't see them
Just as well
He knew where they were

Whiskey's always sweet
On late nights

I will have one print on display along with four others rotating electronically on a large screen monitor. The autumn Gallery Night is always one of the most popular so come on out and support art in Milwaukee. The Squeezettes will perform in the lower level outside of the gallery as well.

Walking Pictures #9

Untitled, Fall 2008 © jwl

I don't leave the house on Sundays. It has become a ritual of mine. I rather enjoy my home time. I do however work in the yard. This week I did some raking, mowing and feeding of the birds. Between loads of laundry, I took some time to make photographs.

I have never been the guy to try and capture the fall colors, but working in the yard this year has given me more reason to notice the changes. These Walking Photographs seem to also be a vehicle for seasonal change as well. The experience of moving through the neighborhood varies with time of year. Autumn, is my favorite by far.
