Chairs By Door, HWY 19 VA 2009 © jwl
Driving through VA (again) I was passing a familiar spot and saw this scene. This is a place where 2 of my images from the Southeastern View book were taken. The subject of those images has been taken away and a church was built there, but this was literally sitting next door.
I passed it by and then thought about the uncanny way I have of finding chairs in odd places. I considered the significance of repetition and habit in my work as well as the fact that I had shot this location no less than 4 times before. I then made a quick U turn and made some art.
