Walking Pictures #5

Trees, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 2008 © jwl

Looks like I am up to my old tricks. Last summer I spent a good deal of time looking up into the trees. At the time I didn't know what I was looking for, it just felt like I should be looking there. Lo and behold, here we go again. After this terrible winter, I may just be happy that the trees have leaves at all. Maybe it is something else. On my walk yesterday I plucked this down for us.

Walking Pictures #4

Birdhouse, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 2008 © jwl

Walked everywhere today. It was nice. In an effort to be independent of the car, as well as looking at my local environment, I walked all day. I found a couple of things to photograph, this birdhouse being very special.

Time Away | Money Well Spent

I spent the last couple of days in Chicago in order to see some friends and get some busy work done without distraction. My man, Chad Pelton, was in the city for a conference and I thought I would take him to some spots and feel the city for myself. He and I had a lot of good conversation along with a few beers at a few places.

Some shows of note would be the Building Pictures exhibition at MOCP. Definitely a must see. Lots of LARGE photographs and very thoughtful ideas about contemporary image making and architecture. We also took some time to see Carrie Secrist and the rest on Washington. I was especially taken with Claire Sherman's Brink paintings @ Kavi Gupta Gallery and Jay Davis @ Bucket Rider.

I also got to spend some time doing the tedious work of researching galleries and museums that may or may not want to have a little lawson on the walls. We will see how much it will pay off, but so far so good. Looks like there are a couple of places interesting in talking so far.

Last but not least, I was happy to get to hang out with my friend AJ. We spent Friday night prowling around a few beer haunts and did some plotting around the future takeover. Be ready for a bit of revolution soon.

Chris Miller Postponed 'Til 2009

Chris has been working his little fingers to the bone in preparation for his next show here at the gallery. Originally scheduled for June 2008, we have decided that it would be better to push the show into 2009. The breadth and amount of detail going into Chris’ new work warrant that the show be given more time. Time on the wall, time on the easel, and time for Chris to spend outside the studio for a cigarette or two. We are also throwing around the idea of a small publication of this new work, so the extra time you spend waiting to see this work will be repaid with a little something to take home with you. Be ready in October 2009 to be taken into a new world with Chris Miller as your guide.

For now, there are still Giclee editions of the three Miller images above. These paintings have been sold into private collections for some time, but you can own one of your own in the form of an inexpensive fine art edition. Currently in stock are 20”x24” editions limited to 10 and we are working on an edition of fun and affordable 8”x10” and 11”x14” editions of 25. Feel free to contact us if you have interest in these soon to be sold out editions.
